What a day it has been, what is that saying that people say best-laid plans and all that, well my day was planned to the minute - or so I thought. It was a school run then onto the garage to book the car in for an investigation of a strange purring noise which is really annoying, then onto the Company Shop to bag a few bargains, then back home to do some tidying up ahead of the children descending after school. Boys to take home and mother to collect for her tea at the Jungalow, then back to mums for cards by 7 o'clock. So all in all a full-on day.
Ok, so this is the part where I tell you it all fell apart, well nearly all. The school run went off as planned - tick, then a quick call to the garage to make sure everything was okay for my appointment - only to be told that whilst the appointment was fine the automatic courtesy car was not available. I asked them to find out if it was coming back in today and ring me back. Whilst I was waiting I decided that I would swing by and see the mother unit. I found her pouring over her calendar when asked what she was doing she said I have an eye clinic appointment this morning in an hours time.
Luckily for mum, the garage phoned back to say the courtesy car was not coming back until tomorrow afternoon so my garage appointment has been moved until Thursday. So I had to taker the mother unit to the eye clinic. As I settled down for the long haul on the landing with my kindle, near the lifts, as relations are not allowed in the clinic with the patient, I caught up on some reading in the hour and a half I had to wait.
After mum had had her cataract done she couldn't wear her normal glasses. But she doesn't suit not wearing glasses. She has been told by the opticians that she can not get any other glasses her eyes are too far gone, so we have been looking to get her a pair with clear glass. These arrived yesterday and are actually gaming glasses with blue anti-glare glass haha. But she loves them.
After dropping her back off home Sue and I decided that we would have a trip out to the Company Shop, so two carrier bags stuffed with food later and my bank balance £15 lighter - a bargain I headed home. The rest of the day, so far, is proceeding as planned. But it has left me feeling decidedly grumpy.
I had ordered some perennial bedding plants to fill in the cleared border in the back garden. This is what arrived by post today. I have to say that I am not over enamoured with the quality, but if they grow alright then it will be fine.
