Well, I have been asking Ben for a while to fit me in with the smelly kitchen repairs but certainly not 6 months haha.
This morning he arrived as promised to hack my kitchen units apart to access the floor above the void.
So this is how the morning unfolded. Firstly Ben had to cut the base out of one of the kitchen units. Once he did that he then took up several small pieces of floorboard revealing the swamp that lurked beneath.
The smell was so pungent that he had to wear a special double-layered breathing mask. It didn't take him long to find the problem. It transpires that the kitchen fitter had problems fitting the back leg of the unit and decided that he would force the issue getting up and personal with the waste pipe from the two sinks and the dishwasher. When forcing it over to get the leg to fit he pulled the joint apart. So since April last year, the waste pipe has been decanting most of the contents of the sinks and the dishwasher into the void under the floor.
Ben had to remove the back leg of the unit and reposition the waste pipe which is now secure and the problem is solved. We filled the void up with wood shavings to soak up the water and then it was easy enough to put everything back together. It will probably take a few weeks for it to dry out but the point is the smell has gone yah!!!.
Last night I did the school run to Aycliffe and picked both Robyn and Dominic up. Whilst we waited for Dominic, Robyn said she wanted to climb her favourite tree. So here are a few pics of my beautiful granddaughter getting up close to nature haha.
