Well, this is a very famous image to start our weekly blog.
Antony Gormley's Angel of the North stands proud on a hillside in Gateshead which is near to Newcastle, for those who are not familiar with it.
So, why am I rattling on about a huge metal statue, with aeroplane wings instead of arms, you may ask?
Well, for some time now the older residents of the Grove have taken to calling me The Angel of the North, as they call on me regularly to assist them. The other day, one such resident came to ask for help with a new TV. Apparently, it wasn't getting power. So I grabbed my glasses and hot-footed it up the Grove. Now, I am not an expert by any means with this sort of thing and was rather hoping it would be a quick fix. Hurray, it was, bless her she had forgotten to plug it in. So, the job was sorted in double quick time and whilst I was there I programmed in the new TV so my reputation as The Angel carries on haha.
Okay, now for something less than nice that has happened to me this week.
On Saturday, I woke up with a stiff neck. Thinking I had slept awkwardly I didn't give it a thought. Fast forward to Sunday evening and the skin on my neck was feeling hot and super sensitive. Monday morning I woke to raised lesions on my neck, shoulder and up into my head on my right-hand side. These were very painful and super itchy, also, I was feeling very underpar. After a virtual consultation with my own doctor, it was diagnosed as Shingles - Yey!!!! He gave me a strong anti-shingles medication called Alicovir which is actually Zovirax on steriods haha. I am taking a whopping 4000mgs a day for 7 days and if that does not do the trick I have to go and actually see him in person. So because it is itchy, and I find it hard not to itch or touch the lesions, I am using a lot of hand sanitiser and more frequent washing of my hands just in case.
On further reading, I discovered a possible cause for this flare-up. It is well-documented that stress and anxiety can bring on an attack. So cast your mind back to the 6th of January and my very stressful teeth implant surgery. Further reading goes on to mention dental trauma as a possible cause for shingles flare-ups.
Wednesday morning I had two very nice but long doorstep chats with firstly Rita who came to see me and then Jenny a friend from u3a. I had informed them of my situation so they were not fazed at standing on my drive talking to me haha.
Another milestone happened this week. I received my new driving licence which coming up to the grand old age of 70 I have had to renew. It arrived in the post on Thursday but the photo that they have used is one taken from my passport haha. So up until 2027, I will look a very youthful 60 haha.
At the next u3a coffee morning I have been asked to advertise my new group Jungalow Crafting. With that in mind, I set to work, whilst I was housebound this week, on compiling some display boards ahead of the coffee morning.
This week's brain teaser
Last week's solution did you find them all?
